Avid HiFi Showcase at Exaudio: Interview with Conrad Mas and Acutus Demonstration

At an event organized by Exaudio, the new home of Avid HiFi for the Portuguese and Spanish markets, the iconic Acutus, the all-in-one entry-level Ingenium, and the mid-range Diva turntables from Avid stood out as the stars. For those looking for binary-coded sound, this might not be the place—Avid believes the Holy Grail of sound lies in analog, and they are fully dedicated to it. This showcase offered visitors an immersive sound experience and the unique opportunity to meet Conrad Mas, the founder and visionary behind the British brand, who redefined vibration engineering in turntables with the Acutus.

During the event, I had the opportunity to interview Conrad Mas, exploring topics such as the future of Avid HiFi, the significance of analog in the digital age, and some exclusive tips for the brand’s fans as well as for those just stepping into the Hi-Fi audio world. Avid HiFi Showcase: Analog Sound Demo and High-Quality Design

The showcase at Exaudio was a unique experience for analog sound enthusiasts. At the center of the attention was the Acutus turntable, celebrated for its sonic precision and distinctive design. This model is an engineering milestone, designed to maximize “good” and eliminate “bad” vibrations, offering a listening experience that seeks purity and naturalness in music.

Alongside the Acutus, Avid’s lineup also included the Diva turntable, paired with the Accent integrated amplifier, and the accessible Ingenium—a plug-and-play model (including the clamp) that lets newcomers start their analog journey with a complete, ready-to-use turntable. Avid provided a broad overview of their offerings, allowing visitors to experience the differences between the various models.

Ingenium: An Entry-Level Turntable That Makes a Strong Impression

Another highlight of the showcase was the demonstration of the Ingenium. This turntable, which includes tonearm, cartridge, and clamp, was paired with the Audio Note Cobra amplifier (review here) and the Pellar phono stage—a setup that impressed, especially for its price point. And the best part? The Ingenium will soon make its way to MoustachesTower for a full review, where I’ll explore everything that €1800 of analog sound can deliver these days.

How did it sound? I’ll leave you in suspense until the review is out, here on MoustachesToys!
