What better way to move past a big blunder than with a major new release?
dCS has announced the Varèse Music System, a new high-end music playback system designed to offer an enhanced and immersive listening experience. The system incorporates advanced technologies to deliver precise and clear audio.
Building on 35 years of expertise in audio fidelity, dCS has developed Varèse to improve the sonic performance of its digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and simplify the user interface. The Varèse system includes a Core, a User Interface, an optional Master Clock, and two Mono DACs. It also features a dedicated remote control and a new app, dCS Mosaic ACTUS. A CD/SACD Transport is expected to be available by 2025.
Key innovations in Varèse include dCS Tomix, a patented clocking technology, and ACTUS, an interface for audio, control, and timing signals. The system also introduces the Differential Ring DAC, an updated version of the company’s Ring DAC™. These advancements aim to reduce jitter, increase linearity, lower noise, and eliminate crosstalk.
Varèse promises to deliver a more expansive soundstage, clearer vocals, and improved bass texture and timing. dCS Managing Director David Steven and Technical Director Andy McHarg highlighted the complexity and ambition of the project, describing it as the most challenging in the company’s history.
Varèse will debut at the Hong Kong AV show on August 9, with demonstrations in the UK and US starting in September 2024. Limited quantities will be available for shipping in late 2024.
