Matrix Audio’s New Audio Heroes Land at High-End Munich
Brace yourselves, audiophiles! Matrix Audio just made some serious noise at this year’s High-End Munich. The folks at Matrix Audio unveiled two brand-new audio beasts: the TS-1, a headphone-focused all-in-one streaming DAC, and the MD-1 / MD-1P, all-in-one Streaming Integrated amps designed for music lovers.
Let’s break it down, moustache-style:
TS-1: The Headphone Hero You Didn’t Know You Needed

TS-1 is Matrix Audio’s all-in-one solution for headphone users. It packs a Hi-Fi streamer, a reference-grade DAC, and a balanced headphone amp into one unit. It even packs a Subwoofer output.
At its core is Matrix’s MA Player OS, giving you access to TIDAL, Qobuz, HIGHRESAUDIO, internet radio, and more. It supports a buffet of streaming protocols, including Roon Ready, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, AirPlay2, UPnP/DLNA, and Audirvana.
Some specs:

- Inputs galore: Optical, coaxial, USB, HDMI ARC, and analog RCA.
- XLR + RCA outputs, with a dedicated subwoofer out (volume-synced under 150Hz, perfect for a 2.1 setup).
- Balanced + unbalanced headphone outs: 6.35mm and 4.4mm, driven by a discrete, fully balanced amp.
- Dual DACs (AK4493SEQ) working in parallel for better dynamics and detail.
- Dual femtosecond clocks to minimize jitter and tighten digital accuracy.
- Expandable storage via internal NVMe SSD, cloud drive, or NAS. You can even rip CDs directly through USB.
- Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit LAN, and an optional external linear power supply for those who crave perfection.
MD-1 & MD-1P: Minimal Effort, Maximum Boom

If your setup leans toward passive speakers and clean lines, the MD-1 series is calling your name. These amps look like Scandinavian design met a spaceship (I might recall Hifi Rose with a tint of attention to detail)
The MD-1 delivers 150W per channel at 8Ω, while the MD-1P takes it to 300W per channel. Yes, that’s enough power to shake the neighbors bed.
Why all the fuss:

- Built-in streamer + DAC = fewer boxes.
- Phono MM input for your vinyl setup.
- Dual speaker outputs on the MD-1P for A/B testing or dual-room playback.
- 256-step digitally controlled analog volume for phase-perfect channel matching.
- Subwoofer and pre-out connections with volume sync — double sub outs on the MD-1P.
- Bluetooth 5.0 with support for LDAC, aptX HD, AAC, and more.
- Balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) line inputs, plus optical, coaxial, HDMI ARC, and USB audio.
- Rock-solid networking via Gigabit LAN and Wi-Fi 6.
- You can even rip CDs and share storage over SMB — nerdy and glorious.
Moustaches’ Take
Matrix Audio is showing the world that great audio doesn’t have to be complicated. The TS-1, MD-1, and MD-1P are made for people who want top-tier sound with less clutter, and zero compromise.
Whether you’re diving into streaming, or building your vinyl setup, this gear hits the sweet spot. I’m itching to test them. Stay tuned.
