Attention Cabasse and Devialet, Marantz has balls too!
Marantz has just launched two new wireless audio systems. With the Horizon and Grand Horizon models, the brand not only presents a bold design approach — introducing circular and minimalist shapes — but also reinforces its reputation for high-fidelity sound quality. Yes, Marantz has balls too, and they come packed with cutting-edge technology.
Iconic Design with a Sustainable Touch
The design of the new wireless audio systems from Marantz is said to have been inspired by the brand’s iconic “bullseye” and not by existing models from French competitors, as I suggested as a joke at the start of this article. This visual signature is the focal point of both models, now reimagined in a spherical form. Sustainability is also part of the package: the Horizon’s cover is made of Marantz Radiance™ 360º Seamless Ecofiber, a premium fabric produced from recycled ocean plastics, combining style and eco-consciousness.
The models are available in three finishes: Midnight Sky, Moon Ray, and the classic Marantz Champagne. To further enhance the sophisticated look, each device features a natural marble base. The brand also offers an optional tripod floor stand in American walnut for the Horizon, and wall mounts for both systems.
Power
Marantz ensures that both the Horizon and Grand Horizon can deliver an immersive sound experience, perfect for filling any space with high-quality sound. Equipped with GaNFET amplification technology, both systems promise fast response and high efficiency. The Horizon provides 310W of power, while the Grand Horizon raises the bar to 370W.
Users can personalize the sound profile through the Marantz Mirage DSP system, accessible via the HEOS® app. For those who prefer, the Sound Master mode offers the sound exactly as conceived by Yoshinori Ogata, Marantz’s sound engineer.
Connectivity and Smart Control
The new Marantz wireless audio systems come equipped with the HEOS platform, providing direct access to streaming services like Spotify, TIDAL, and Amazon Music. Apple device connectivity is guaranteed through AirPlay 2 support, and Bluetooth is also included. For those who prefer physical sources, the models offer HDMI, USB-C, RCA, and optical inputs, as well as Dolby Atmos decoding via HDMI.
Interaction with the devices is easy and intuitive: proximity sensors automatically activate the systems when approaching one of the devices, and the volume can be adjusted with a simple touch on the illuminated ring around the subwoofer.
Prices and Availability
The Marantz Horizon and Marantz Grand Horizon will be available from January 1st, 2025. The Horizon is priced at €3,800, while the Grand Horizon will retail for €6,000. The Marantz Horizon Tripod floor stand costs €750.
With this launch, Marantz is entering a new phase, not only investing in bold design and cutting-edge technology but also challenging competitors like Cabasse and Devialet. The future of wireless audio is in good hands.
